Searching.

Do you ever just not have anything to say. Well, that's me.  A lot of things are going on, I just don't know what to say about them. I love blogging so I figured I would just sit down and start typing, thinking maybe something will come out of my ramblings.

Well, first off, it has been HOT around here. Miserably hot. So, what do me and Hubby do this last weekend in all of this heat? We go to a festival. There was an art festival just a little ways down the road from us(1 hr drive) so we thought we would go see it. Hubby, being a redneck and all, actually liked it. Would that make him a cultured redneck? lol. Anyway, going to the art festival got me wanting to start painting again. I use to paint all the time. Oh, and draw. I LOVE to draw!!!!Things just took my time away from me. So I got to thinking. Do we do things because we love them, or because we think we HAVE to do them?

So pondering that thought one morning this weekend as I was sipping a glass of ice tea on my "patio" over looking my pond, I got to wondering,"What is it that I love to do?" Have you ever asked yourself that question? I was getting into some deep thought. And this is how it went.

I don't like to mess with the cattle. They scare me. Oh sure, I like to watch them in the field. I like to feed them across the fence. But, when it comes to actually doing something with them, I don't like it. They are BIG and SCARY. Hubby likes them. So being the nice wife that I am, I let him have all the cattle responsibility. Sure, I'll cook a steak every now and then.lol. But, you get the idea.

Another thing I'm not really wild about is gardening. Now, let me rephrase that, I don't like gardening in the heat. It makes me sick. I kinda like picking the veggies and I like preparing the food. I don't like planting and watering and weeding. But, I like eating the fresh veggies more than I hate gardening so there has to be sacrifices. LOL.

I've come to the conclusion that although I love my three goats, I don't think I want a large herd. Sure, I could make money off of them. Probably some good money. But, money isn't everything. So I'm sticking with a small herd of goats. (I have to have at least some goats in my life. hehehhe)

Next, I have been waiting on getting my house completely done before I "decorate" it. No more. I'm going to start getting containers so that I can have flowers outside my door. I miss flowers. I'm going to start making this house a home. Even though we don't have drywall up on all the walls, I can still hang a picture(or painting) up. I like to make things look good.

Another thing that we did this weekend is go and visit a fellow blogger, Sara at Pumpkin's Patch. She is such a nice lady! I just loved sitting in her wool house and just talking about everything. (Watch out Sara, you may see more of me than you want. lol.) Her little bottle feeder sheep Lila, is adorable. Oh, and the pictures that Sara can take, are breath taking. She is a woman after my own heart. She is the one that got me addicted to spinning wool. (Another thing that I have put on the back burner because I HAD to do other things first.)

So now that I rambled on and on, the topic of this blog, I guess, is to do things you love. REALLY take a look at the things you do in your everyday life, and see if you REALLY love to do them. I have, and I'm getting to know myself better. (Hi self, how are you?....I'm great! And you?......Oh just trying to find myself.....Well, I've been right here all the time.............I know, that was cheesy. But hey.)

So as I close this post, I ask a question. What is it that YOU truly love to do?

So until next time,

Small Farm Girl, Self finder.

Good, thought-provoking post. Guess I have some thinking to do here as well.

I'm there with you about the gardening. Love to pick them, cook them, eat them, but I just hate, hate hate planting, watering & weeding them. Gott'a eat though.

I haven't forgotten the things I love to do, but for me I guess it's a season in my life to keep 'em on the back burner, but the flame is still there! I do manage to squeeze a few in there from time to time! I do enjoy reading your blog posts!!

Well, I'm with you on the cows, gardening, not with you on the goats (too smart for me ;-) and maybe we all need to be thinking about why we do anything, cause I'm pretty sure I'm not trimming the bushes or pulling weeds because I *want* to... Always good to visit with you, either in person on on your blog :-).

Here ya go; I truly Love God as my Savior, then my Husband and family. What I term as MY passions are gardening, yes I truly, truly LOVE to garden, it's when I feel at peace with myself and the world around me( if that makes sense?) I also love all animals, wild, tame and alike. Now having said that I also have some fearful respect in dealing with our cows, due to the sheer weight and power differences between us, LOL!!! The goats, chickens, turkeys, dogs and cat not so much fear of being hurt but a fear of loosing them to an illness or alike. I've always related better to animals than people and in pondering this time and time again, it's because animals don't plot to hurt you, yes they can hurt you but it's not planned as it often is with people.*sigh* Animals are also good listeners and have an unconditional love to share with you if you take the tie to see the REAL them.
I'm not fond of cleaning house, I do it because I can't stand filth, but it's not my favorite by any means.

Making money from our small farm has been a contention but we treat $$ like the tool it is and that helps to keep us focused. :o)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, it made me really think and be thankful for all we do have.

BTW, feel free to send some of your heat up north. We've only had a handful of days above 70F and yet again tody and tomorrow it's raing and forecasted to rain with daytime temps into the low 50'sF and night temps as low as 38F< Brrrr...> I'm going to light a fire in the stove tonight, as my Dh is gone on an overnight job, so no snuggle partner to keep we warm*wink*

Blessings for your day,

Hey Small Farm Girl, great post! I like your casual writing style, (in contrast I think my blogging style is just too formal, but I'm not quite comfortable with it yet). Isn't it funny how we have to re-find ourselves, get our priorities straight or redefine our purpose now and again over and over? Well, if that's what you're doing these days, I'll just help myself to your blog and tag along for the ride. I'm a farmgirl wannabe!
