Rainy Days

I just love rainy days. These are the days that I am forced to stay inside. That way I can get stuff done inside and not feel guilty about the things that need done outside. Plus we have a metal roof on our house and, ooooohhhh, does it sound sooooo good. I might be "forced" into taking a nap. lol.  But that will be after the dishes are done, the clothes are washed, the floor is swept, the tub is scrubbed, the stove ashes are emptied......well, I guess I can forget the nap.

Time?

Okay, I've been off work now for a couple weeks.....At what point am I suppose to have extra time to do the things that I have always wanted to do? Who said that? lol!!!!!I've been busier now than when I was at work! If I went back to work now, it would be like taking a vacation! Oh well, this is what I wanted, and I'm loving every minute of it.

We have been working on the house and getting more if it done. And then, since we have been working on the house, I haven't had time to "clean" the house. (Who knew doing drywall caused soooo much dust?!) It's a mess!

We also have been trying to get the auction off the ground. I'm having second thoughts about it. It's a REALLY great opportunity to make some money but, I was wanting a more simple life. This is not going to make my life more simple. I will wake up in the middle of the night and think, "What am I doing?! I want out!" But, when the mornings come around my thinking slowly comes around into thinking that maybe it will be ok. I don't know. I'll just have to feel it out some more.

We also have taken some cattle to the sale. Cattle prices are UP! Good for us cattle owners, not good for the consumer. That's why we eat our own beef. It's soooo much cheaper. And since our cattle are only grass fed, they are a lot healthier. Anyway, we had a time taking the cattle off to the market. We only brought 4, 1 for the butcher, 3 for the market. The three going to the market were WILD! We don't mess with our cattle much. We don't feed them everyday, so they don't have much contact with us. They wanted to hurt someone!  I kept yelling at hubby to not get hurt, I needed his retirement. hehehehe. That's true love right there. LOL  When all was said and done, I was VERY glad when they were unloaded from the stock trailer and we drove away.  Now I wont have to do that again for a least another year.  YEA! Plus we will have enough meat to last us until our grandchildren have grandchildren. Well, maybe not that much, but we will have a bunch.

Well, I have to get to work(at home).

So until next time,

Small Farm Girl, more busy.

Got Milk?

Meet the newest addition. This is Annabell. She is our new milk cow. We think she is a mixture of Jersey and(maybe)Angus.

She is a cute little thing. She will be smaller than our beef cattle. Yes, we have our goats for milk and such, but I just think I'll like the butter from a cow better than from our goats. I've tried, and tried, but I can still taste "goat". lol. Don't hate me goat people!!!!!! Don't worry, I'll still keep my goats. I'm just going to try a milk cow too. We shall see. If it doesn't work out, I've already had a million (ok, maybe not a million) people offer to buy her off of me.

As you can see, she just HAD to have her close up picture.

And not to be out done, George had to have his too. Maybe a little too close.

So until next time,

I Did It!

Well, I did it! My official last day at work was Friday. AAAAUUUUGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!  I have such mixed emotions about that. I am scared to death, for one. I have done that job for sooooo long. This is a big change for me! The auction that I'm helping get off the ground wont take up all of my time. So now what?  Yes, I know I will be working on the farm more. I know that I'll do a lot of the things that I've been putting off because of not having the time. I know that technically I have a LOT of things to keep me busy...... but will I do them? Will I get bored? Will I sit around the house all day eating bon bons and getting fat(er)? Will I start going out of my mind because I can't remember what day it is? Will I start nagging at the husband because HE's was at work and I had no one to talk too? Ok, ok,.....breath in, breath out......

As you can tell, I'm a little freaked out. And to make matters worse, it just turned frigid outside, so I can't do much outside.  Weeeeelllllll, I guess, I could do dishes. I guess I could wash clothes. I guess I could clean the litter box, drywall the house, make some bread, sweep and wash the floors, dust, knock down spider webs........ Hey, how did I have time to work? hehehehehe

So until next time,

Small Farm Girl, unemployed. (yea :o) )

Ok, Enough Teasing

Ok, I've given you enough time to ponder what's been going on around here.(Like you don't have anything else to think about.) Anyway, this is our new purchase.

My beautiful, wood cook stove! I'm in love! I've already tried it out. Like a million times!!!! Pizza, biscuits, eggs and bacon. MMMMMMMM! I think I'm hungry again.

Another thing that I've done since I've talked to you all? I've put in my notice at work. That's right folk! I've finally got up the nerve to do it! I'm freaking out here!!!!!!!!! I've done nails for 10 years! This is a big step for me. What am I going to do with myself you ask? Wellllll.......

Me and hubby have went in with a few of our friends to start a small animal and produce auction. I know!!!!! I can't believe it myself! (Ok, it's getting a little out of with the exclamation points. ! I just had to. heheheh) We are working really hard on getting a place ready for small farmers to bring in their small animals (goats, chickens, rabbits) and extra produce to sell at auction. That way, the farmers will always have an outlet to sell their goods. It's going to be a VERY humane auction. The animals will be treated very well as they are at the auction. We are also hoping that bigger grocery stores will come to the auction to get local produce for their stores. The closest auction like this is many hours away. Hopefully ours will take off and really help the local farmers and the local economy.

So as you can tell, I HAVE been busy!

So until next time,

Small Farm Girl, !
