Happy Goats

Do you know how to make a goat happy? Give them this....

Mud says,"Hey, where's mine?"

"Oh, okay, thanks!"

Pure bliss.

Hanna wouldn't even come out for her picture.

So until next time,

Small Farm Girl, goat's best friend.

Sarah, actually we haven't had any problems keeping ours in. Our cows get out more than our goats. lol

Ooooh, so Cute!! they are funny little animals aren't they! They love to climb and leap and hop. They must be happy little things! Are you getting goats milk?? ...debbie

Yes Debbie, I am getting milk. We're getting around a half gallon a day. This is her first time giving milk so she isn't giving a whole lot. But, half a gallon is plenty enough for me and Hubby right now. We are not sure what to do with it all right now. I need a cream seperator so I can make butter. lol

You need to make Chevre!! Easy and YUmmy! I use it in place of cream cheese and any other soft cheese. You add your culture and rennet let it sit over night(9-12hours) Drain off whey and I let it drip for another hour or so. Add salt and other herbs and seasoning if you want to and its good to go. It last about a week in the fridge and freezes well. I pulled some out from last May and thawed it. Still good!

Oh and the round bales are nice save you a bundle on hay but be aware of the layers falling off and smothering especially when you have babies I lost some that way. I wrap a panel around a bale and let them eat through the panel. Less waste and they cant climb on it and soil it.
I keep it out of the pen for now and just bring it to them.

How cute! Just be careful of round bales and possibly suffocating your goats. We lost a grown doe once sadly when the bale unwound and toppled over. Round bale feeders are the way to go and they save alot on the waste as well.
