Graduation!

My babies have graduated. (Don't go all crazy on me. I don't really think of the chickens as my babies. I'm just saying that because I've heard so many people say that in the last month. It being graduation season and all.lol) They spent their first night in the "big" chickens house. They did just fine. Of course, they are just about as big as the older chickens. But, it's still a new place for them. When I went to let the chickens out, the "smaller" chickens were up on the roost. Like, "I'm not going down there with all of those "big" chickens. They are mean and scary." lol. Oh well. Nugget and his two friends stayed in the "little" chicken's house. They are still too little for the big leauge.

It has finally cooled off a bit. You can actually breath. It's still hot, but I can handle the heat, it's the humidity that I hate. I'm not a fish. Next week, it is actually suppose to have the highs to be in the 70's. I'm going to have to get out the winter coats. lol.

Hey, I picked my first batch of beans today!!!! Granted, it was just enough for me and Hubby to eat. But, it was some beans, and they were out of our garden. YEA!!! I looked at the blooms on the bean plants and have decided we are going to be "bean-barded" with beans this year. We may not be about to grow potatoes. We may not be about to grow a bunch of corn. We may not even be able to grow melons. But, darn it, we can grow BEANS! hehehehe. Now for a good batch of beans and potatoes. Yummmmmm.(Yes, the potatoes were bought from a store.)

So my question is, what type of beans do you plant and why?

So until next time,

Small Farm Girl, bean eater.

Actually beans are NOT the easiest crop to grow, so why not potatoes or cantaloupe?

Glad we don't have humidity to deal with we've gone from low 70's to mid to high 90'sF almost overnight but boy howdy you can watch the garden stuff growing, heeee, heeeee!

We have names for our chickens( most of them anyway*wink*) and we think of all of our animals as our kids!*wink* Congrats on the graduation!

Blessings for your weekend,
Kelle

Congratulations to your "girls"!!! I grew some green beans and some yellow wax beans this year but they arent doing so hot but potatoes oh the potatoes are growing!!! And dont even talk about blueberries, I have picked 8 quarts so far of them. Tomatoes arent doing so hot either. Oh well always next year! :) By the way one of my girls flew the coop today literally. Luckily hubby was able to coax her back to him with some grass...

"Bean-Barded"....LOL! Love it!
We didn't grow any beans this year. What are your favorite (read: easy and tasty) kind?

Yes, those chicks sure do grow up fast. It's always a little scary to let them graduate in with the big girls, I agree.
I've got three chicks that will be graduating in a few weeks, too. I'll be biting my nails to make sure they integrate easily, even though I'm pretty sure my ladies will accept them.

We've finally been getting rain here every afternoon this past week. Today we even had hail! The temps dropped down into the 50's. Brrr! I was thinking the same thing....uh...should I get out the winter coats? lol!

But I do love the rain here. Everything that's been so dusty and dry and hot for so long, is swept clean with water and the air feels washed clean and fresh and crisp! The smell of honeysuckle, pinon and juniper is exhilarating!
