Camo

I'm about ready to change the name of one of our goats. The little white and black one. I think I might change it from Tipper to Sassy. Why? Because she is SASSY!!!She does NOT want to be caught. Mudd? No problem. Tipper(aka Sassy) will run rings around us when we try to catch her. I mean, this goat can run up the side of the barn. I have seen her do it! lol. We have to corner her and then kind of dive in after her. I'm sure she will get use to us with time. I've got the patience.(for now)

Well, the goats have meet some of the other animals on the farm. So far Tipper has head butted the dog and the cat. (See,she's Sassy!!!)The cat was the funniest thing I've seen in a while. Tipper kept following it around sniffing at it. The cat was doing one of his best "I don't care if you are there" act. When the cat did turn around to finally look back at her, BAM! It made a loud, hollow sound. Let me tell you, that cat can run. lol.

The weather has been HOT around her. If it's not hot, it's raining. It feels like a sauna. (By the way, why would anyone want to BUY a sauna? Why would I buy something that makes me hot and sweaty when I can just walk out to the mail box and get the same effect?) Anyway, I finally got to check out the garden this morning.(5:30 am) When I finally found the plants in with all of the weeds, I noticed that they were really healthy. The rabbits that I see out there every evening, has not eat any of the plants. The bugs haven't even touched the plants either. So I got to thinking,(get ready for it) The weeds are like a camouflage! The rabbits can't see the yummy plants for the weeds! The bugs think that it's just a bunch of weeds too. Why would THEY want to eat weeds. The humans must not have planted any GOOD plants this year. See, I've got them tricked. I think I'm on to something here.hehehehe.

Looks like we are about to get another storm, so until next time....

You made me chuckle at the visions of Sassy running up the barn and butting the poor cat in the head. Bless his heart and head! They are so cute. Glad to hear your disguised garden is doing well. Maybe you'll get to pluck some produce soon!! I think all this humidity and rain is making these wretched weeds grow way too fast!!! ...debbie

Sure wish we could have some of your rain. It's not rained here since last summer! Everything is dead or dying and brown and dusty. I didn't even bother growing a garden because of the lack of rain and because plants don't seem to like our tap water.
At least we have peaches and apples growing so we'll have something to harvest this year. lol!

I love the concept of disguising your garden with weeds. A much simpler job, too. But hopefully the weeds won't grow so big you can't find your veggies either. lol!

Have your tried a bit of grain, or some peanuts to capture your sassy goatie girl?
Our goats also love horse cookies. They will follow us anywhere for treats. lol!

Just sit down in the grass with some treats and wait her out. If Mudd comes over for attention, she'll be over, too eventually. Curiosity eventually will get to your little spunky doeling. lol!

For a goat that doesn't want to be caught just go sit in the pen with grain nearby. Just a hand full at different times during the day. Find what ever you can to be in their pen to get them use to you. Their natural curiosity will get the better of them.
Lol at the camo... I have done that before..

Oh my you do need to rename her Sassy! :) I've also noticed that besides the cabbage worms we got early in the season on the Broccoli, this crazy KY weather has sprouted up some robust veggies! This is by far the best veggie year we have had. I think it has lots to do with the super heat and humidity. I left for a week, and when I returned I didn't recognize the garden at all! ( And have also given up fighting the weeds. They are too prolific! )
