100th Post!!!!! And New Year!!!!!!

It's not only the begining of a new year, it's my 100th post. Wow, time sure does fly! I didn't realize I had that much to say. So,in honer of this being the new year and all, I started to think of the things that I wanted to do or do differently this year.

1. Get our finances under control. Hubby has been laid off for over a year now. Sure we have his unemployment, but that's not the same as him having a job. I'm writing down every single cent we spend. I want to know were it goes and for what.

2. I've GOT to lose weight. I know, I know, everybody makes this resolution. That's why Weight Watchers loves this time of year. I problem is, I don't need to lose just 5,10,or 30 pounds. I've got a LOT of weight to lose. (Ever wonder why you never see pictures of me? Yep, too fat.) But this year, I'm going to lose it. My short range goal is to lose 40 pounds by the begining of May. I need you guys for support. Maybe telling you about my journey to a smaller me will keep me on track. Don't worry, this is not going to be a "diet blog".

3. We are going to work on living a more sustainable life. Having a bigger garden and doing more canning. I'm already planning on what to plant in my garden.

4. I plan on riding horses more. Wether it is the horse I have now, or a new one. It dosen't matter. I'm going to be smaller come time to ride, and I'm going to ride.

5. If I start a project, I'm going to finish the project. No more half finish projects. That always drives me crazy!

6. Organize.

7. Have fun! Isn't that what life is all about?

Okay, now that you know what you will be reading about in the new year to come, I hope you stick around with me.

So until later.....

Small Farm Girl, soon to be ex-fatty.

P.S. No, this is NOT going to be turned into a diet blog. lol.

P.S.S. I just figured out how to change my background, so there might be a few changes on here.

Yes! Have fun! Not exACTly what life is all about, but it sure is a huge part of it. Enjoying the blessings that are all around us, even during hard times.

It's been such a challenging year for you, with your DH laid off. And you've done so much despite it. I've been impressed.

I am always on an up and down thing with my weight. Now that the holidays are past, I've got to get more under control myself. Today I began exercising. Every 30 minutes I get my heart rate up by jumping on the elliptical for about 90 seconds. It really helps give me energy, keep me warm, increase my metabolism, etc.

We've already started planning the garden. I remember how quickly things can get away from us, so I hope to stay one step ahead for as long as possible. :P

Hello, I recently lost 40 lbs. It took me four months. I cannot excerise because of my back and neck. I am still in recovery from the injury. I tried and tried and nothing was working with the battle of losing lbs. I stopped eating rice, and when I did eat rice or baked pot. I put salsa on them instead of butter. I started using salsa for everything because it is so low in calories. I watch Biggest Loser every chance I get for the motivation and the eating tips. It is where I learned about the salsa. I started using a smaller plate. Buy Pretzels for a snack because the ones I have right now I can eat 44 and it will only be 100 calories. The only thing that worked for me is counting calories. When I started do that I found myself looking for foods with low calories so I could eat more of it but still only eating the serving size recommended. Example, I count out 44 pretzels. I chew gum alot also. I buy the one recommended by the Biggest Loser coaches as the flavor last the longest. I still have 25 more pounds to go. Oh another thing I did was buy a scale and get on it in the morning and in the evening. It has been very helpful for me. I used to never wiegh myself but found myself being more accountable with the scale. I found one at CVS for 10 dollars. If you want you can email me and I will be a support partner for your wieght loss. It is very helpful to have someone to talk to for support. Oh yeah, If I felt like I just had to have the brownie I would take a bite and throw the rest away or throw it to the chickens.....smile.....I also would pretend like my dogs were starving which they aren't and make myself save a little of my serving for the dogs. Basically I played head games with myself but it has worked and I am feeling 100 percent better. When I first lost 15 pounds I kept rubbing my back side because I felt like I was missing something.....LOL....
Good Luck and Happy New Year!

Ditto on the weight loss. I could stand to lose 40 lbs by May so I'll be staying tuned in to see how it goes for you. Of course, the "live, laugh and love" comment is so true. If those things aren't present what is there to lose weight for???

Hoping 2010 brings all that and much more to you and yours!

You actually wrote all of the exact resolutions I have been hesitant to put in writing since I know that if I write them down and don't fulfull them I will be dissapointed in myself. One of the things I plan to try and do is ask myself each day how I can achieve my goals today. I look forward to following your progress this year. Remember to be good to yourself!

Hope this year finds your hubby with a job though. Been there done that and it's not fun.

I am with you on the weight thing! Since my surgery in August I put on weight. But I recently moved my treadmill to the living room so I will be more appt to use it!
With my DH recent layoff It made us pay more attention to what happens when we dont have the money coming in. He is still off but Only due to the weather now. We are going to be working on getting things paid off more and back under control so we arent in this bind again!
I am hoping to be settled enough and be able to raise more of our food this next year too. Also to enjoy life a little more and be relaxed!! Hasnt been much relaxing in the last 2 yrs for us but there will be this year!

Walk. Walk, walk, walk, walk. Yes, I am still on my High from my hiking trip to Spain...and No, I have not continued to walk as I did before.

But I find myself CRAVING walking, I know what it did for me at the time, and as I look in the mirror at my body, I know how much more it can do. Just walk, sweeetie.

Hooray! Good for you and congrats on your 100th post, too!
Happy New Year to you!
And good luck with all of your goals this year. I hope they all happen for you and all your wishes, dreams and desires come true, too. YOU DESERVE IT. And always keep that in mind. You are worth it!
I lost about 30 lbs when I had my knee surgery last year and that was mostly because I was stranded in my upstairs bedroom and had to have my family bring me food......and they often forgot. lol! I drank alot of cup-o-soup packets and oatmeal using my electric teapot upstairs, but didn't eat many treats or bread, etc.

I've gained all that weight back now.....because now I can go shopping and can visit the kitchen anytime I want. lol!

(Not that I'd eve wish surgery on anyone as a way to lose weight, though. lol!)

Happy New Year! Thanks for visiting my site. I do feel much better. The whiskey helped! lol But really, 5 days on an antibiotic helped! Thanks for thinking of me.

We have some of the same goals! I haven't had a garden in years and I want to have a garden this year. I'm going back to horses full time, so I should have time to ride my own horses, not just my training horses. I love being organize - my calendar is my best friend.

good luck with finances and weight loss. Both tough! It is a great idea to write everything down and know where it goes - no different than a business.

Projects - I love to start them, then the end drags. We should do the same project, and see who gets done first.

Yes, let's have fun with everything we do this year! good luck!

Hello again, My email is fitchbarbara@gmail.com

I will help out in any way I can. If you can walk I agree with Irma. I can't walk for 4 more months. I am not allowed any physical activity since my procedure as we are trying to heal the damaged tissue. It has helped me by wieghing myself everyday and counting calories. I keep unlimited carrots and celery cut, cleaned and ready in the fridge as they qualify as free food because of the super low calories. Animal crackers are low in calories for being a cookie. If you have a scale try wieghing in everyday and feeling like your accountable to someone. Going to my Doctor monthly and knowing I have to get on the scale helps me. Please know that I do treat myslef if I really want something. I also eat alot of fiber. I started counting fiber trying to get it as high as possible. Also drink alot of water. I drink a whole glass at a time as it leaves you feeling full. It has been fun getting into some old jeans I was beginning to think I would never wear again. Looking forward to your emails and having a partner to talk wieght loss with. It really helps to stay focused and talk about it.
