What Should I Say?

Did ya ever just NOT have anything to say? Believe it or not, I really don't. It's just the same ole, same ole around here.  So just to keep up with my blogging, I just thought I would get on here and start typing .(Please bare with me.)

I guess I could tell you about how we got a calf butchered. But to make it a better story, I need to take pictures of the new HUGE freezer that we had to buy to put it in. Then when we went to pick up the 400+ lbs of all grass fed, home raised beef, we ended up buying a locally raised hog. It came up to over 200lbs. So to put it lightly, we wont be needing to buy any meat anytime soon. lol.

You know, it makes you feel good to know that the food that you are eating comes from your hard work.(Or your neighbors.)  I want to try to eat more local foods. Well, to be exact, I want to eat more of my OWN raised food. I think that is important.

As I was typing this, I got a phone call from my dr. I have to go in every year to get a refill on my blood pressure meds. Anyway, they told me that my cholesterol was up and that I needed to go on a low cholesterol diet. Have they seen my freezer?!  All of that meat is NOT going to go to waste. I guess I'll just cut back on my lumberjack sized portions. I kind of have been going over board on those. (Well, what do you expect? We haven't had this good of meat in a long time?LOL) I'll eat more veggies, (which shouldn't be hard. I love them.) and get more exercise.(Ok, I hate exercising!) I knew that I was going to have to start eating and exercising more. My size 103245433 pants were telling me this. But, until something like this hits you in the face, you don't really think about it. Time to get real people. I'll keep you all up to date.

I guess I had more to say than what I realized. I should do this more often. hehehe

So until next time,

Small Farm Girl, soon to be Smaller Farm Girl. lol

I'd HATE to know what my blood numbers are....but even if they were ok, goodness knows I need to get on that treadmill more often.

Hey, you've got the same sized pants I do!! :)

enjoy your meat..enjoy your veggies, and enjoy your life...living the prepping farmlife is a natural lifestyle to get you exercising more..it is hard work. as for cholestrol being high-cut your portions some will help and eating the good nutritious food that God meant for us-if you want high cholestrol and other problems with your health then eat that stuff that comes in boxes that you just add water or meat to and eat fast food at least once a week-that will get your clolestrol up for sure as well as your blood pressure. when thinking about going on a diet to lose weight i think of the ladies/women of the 1940's and the 1950's. they always dressed up with hat and gloves and lipstick even if they were just going to the grocer or the pta meeting.. anyway, think about what they ate three times a day..and those gals cooked three times a day too...and they ate. and well, just dont go overboard with the diet thing. burn the calories riding a bike to the mailbox or neighbors for coffee, work that garden and walk that fenceline or take a hike. exercising and eating right can be a whole lotta fun without any fancy treadmills, or special diets.

I say ignore them. Their kickback is enough to motivate them... haven't you noticed the numbers have gotten lower? More and more people are now labeled "High" than ever before.

Eat real food. Smaller portions. And throw in some oatmeal.

Peace!!!

I'd check out the naturopathic methods of bringing down the cholesterol. Keep eating the stuff you like (in proportion) but add in something that naturally lowers cholesterol.

Just some thoughts. Love you blog!

I know this sounds like a Quaker oat commercial but I really did lower my cholesterol this past year by eating just a half cup of oatmeal or my home made granola (mostly oatmeal) for breakfast almost every day. AND I had two soft boiled eggs on toast at least once a week. The oatmeal doesn't have to be cooked. Boiled water works fine and I always put brown sugar, cinnamon, and dried raisins or craisins on it too. It was cool to see the look of surprise on my Drs. face! HA! Take that you pill pusher. No prescriptions for me. I can send you my recipe for the granola if you like. Oh and I still eat meat, cheese, and dairy.

Cutting out the packaged stuff you get at the grocery is really what is good for you. Also if you have any stress that will make your numbers go up. I agree with everyone else on here. I dont agree with all that cholesterol stuff though. Do not and I repeat do not go on any cholesterol meds until you read up on them. The cure is worse than the disease...trust me on this one. My hubby and I are starting to juice again and this time I will drink whatever he juices even though I could skip the carrot juice and some of the other concoctions he makes up :) If you are drinking any diet drinks, stop those as well. That stuff is very bad for you and have you ever heard of someone actually losing weight drinking them cause I havent...

Good luck with your diet. We just all eat the wrong foods and too much of what we eat. I read recently, Diet Coke is the number one selling soda in America. Well, I think you would have to say that is a failure when you look at our obesity ratings. We should all be drinking water and leave the sugar and sugar substitutes alone.
