Fear

You know, I think of myself as a brave person. I'm not afraid of much of anything. When we had two snakes INSIDE our house a few years ago, I was the one that killed one. Don't even know where the other one went. It got away. That didn't bother me. When we had a rat in the house, that made me more mad than scared.  I'm not scared of the mice that visit our house every once in a while. Nope, no fear here. Except.....
when it comes to spiders.

Aaaauuggghhhh!!! I can't stand spiders! I know I'm bigger than they are. I know all I have to do is step on them. I know that a snake is more deadly than the spiders that we have around here. (We will find a black widow every once in a while.) I know all of this. I doesn't matter!  I HATE SPIDERS!

I don't know what it is about them that freaks me out. Is it the way that they walk? Just thinking about it sent a shiver up my spine. Is it the fact that they can hide almost anywhere? (Another shiver) Or is it the fact that there are so many spiders? ( Ok, double shiver) I don't know. I just don't like any of it.

When (or if) Hubby gets this new job, he will have to be gone from the house for 8 to 10 weeks. WHO will kill my spiders? I'm not going to call up my neighbor. I would be to embarrassed.

All I know is that this time of the year, the spiders bring it on themselves to give me a heart attack whenever I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Almost EVERY TIME!!!Enough already! Then I go back and wake up Hubby so he can kill it. The good guy that he is, he doesn't complain.

The spiders that are invading us right now, are not your run-of-the-mill spiders. Ooooohhhhh NO! They are the elephant size suckers that could eat our St. Bernard.  I mean, they are HUGE!!!!! I believe that Skeeter, my weenie dog, hides in our room so that they won't take her.  No joke people! lol.

When Hubby does go out of town for his training, don't be surprised if you hear about some woman shooting a hole in her house because she was trying to kill a spider. I mean, I'm going to have to kill them some how.

So until next time,

Small Farm Girl, spider hunter.

Nope, you're not the only one. I think smakes are fascinating, although I am fearful, or rather very respectful of the poisonous snakes.

But spiders....*shiver*.

When my hubby was gone this past year, I was grateful that both of my twinling sons are brave, courageous teenagers who want nothing more than to show off their courage while protecting their Mama and little sister.

I think I will go hug them right now and tell them how much I appreciate them. :)

Be brave, my friend. If I could loan you one of my twinlings I would.

Do you have a cat? One of our cats loves hunting and eating spiders. I love that cat so much!

I think I know the ones your talking about. WE called them "basement spiders" cause that's where we saw them most. I squirm just thinking of it! I too can take almost anything, but spiders...not so much. I prefer them outside, and actually deal with it pretty well if I find the normal size ones in the hosue, but what I can NOT take is walking into a web...and not knowing where the little thing that built it is! THAT is my phobia when it comes to spiders. As long as I knwo where it is, I'm a lot better off.

You need one of those electric fly swatters, one with a really LONG handle.

I don't like spiders either but have learned over the years to kill them.

We'll be praying that the spiders stay ourside for their own well being as well as yours*wink*
Blessings,
Kelle

Hairspray works wonders on spiders. It freezes them up so that they can't move anymore. Thank goodness there isn't anything like that where I live, though we used to get huge cane spiders in our old house.

Spiders are the worst for me, as well. But I don't have a problem killing them. It's when they are running around loose that freaks me out. LOL

I've done the hairspray thing on some of them as well, when I was trying to avoid spider guts on something. Immobilize them, then squash them elsewhere.

I think we all share that distaste for spiders. It's about the only thing that can make me scream like a little girl, even though I'm rational enough to understand the important role they play in my garden.

I used to joke that there was a sign posted clearly at the front and back door of the house. Spiders shall not be allowed above the couch, anywhere near the bed, in the bathroom (especially the shower or tub), or anywhere else they could land in my hair. Everywhere else is fair game. Don't read the rules? Too bad for you.

'Honey get the shotgun there`s a spider in here!'

Actually spiders don`t bother me, I pick them up and take them outside. Its mice and bees that give me the screaming meme`s!

Keep a shoebox handy, face your fears and kindly escort them outside :-).

vaccuum those little buggers right up! Not a favorite for me, either, for sure. My 6 year old was TERRIFIED of them, not your average, run of the mill terrified, but seriously lose-your-noodle TERRIFIED. Then, his kindergarten class did a unit on them, and once he could tell me all their little body parts, now he's not scared of them. Maybe you could try Charlotte's Web? Worked for him! Good luck!

Maybe you should bomb the house!!! That might get rid of them!!! We just did that in our travel trailer and it seemed to work!!! Just a thought!!! Good luck...

Spiders are the worst. I abandoned half of my garden when I found one nesting among my tomato plants. I was terrified I would unknowingly put my hand in there and it would run up my arm. {{{shiver}}}
