You heard it right. Hubby got FIRED! (Well, perminatly laid off) And to top that off, they wouldn't tell him why! They told him that they would not fight his unemployment benifits so they wasn't going to "get into" why we was "laid off." Our guess is when he took a day off to go for a job interview, they didn't like that. The thing is, 6 other people went to the same job interview. They didn't get "laid off." The only difference is, Hubby (we think) got the job! Once again, you heard right, HUBBY GOT THE JOB!!!!!!!
Yeaaaa Hubby!!!!! The only thing we are waiting on now is his physical and back ground check. (No problem, as far as we know. lol) They said it would be a couple weeks before they would get in contact with him. Once he passes his background check and physical, Hubby will be taking a trip to GA for training. He will be down there form anywhere between 8 to 12 weeks. That's going to be the hard part. I know there are a lot of you out there who's hubbys are gone for longer. But, I'm not used to that. I mean, who is going to kill the big spiders? lol.
Before he gets called to GA, we are going to try to get into the basement of our new house. (Yes, I know, we are BUSY around here!) That way, when he is gone, I won't have to worry about falling through the floor in the bedroom, or the wall falling in, or the electric causing fires.(Need I go on? This old house is in bad shape!)
So many things are changing around here, and many things are staying the same. Today, I'm making apple butter. Tomorrow, we are butchering chickens. I was going to butcher them a few days ago, but, I just couldn't swing the axe. lol. So since Hubby is laid off(fired),he is going to be the official axe swinger. Me, I'm a wimp. But, I'll be doing all of the cleaning and prepping. See, I'm not all useless. heheeheehe.
So until next time,
Small Farm Girl, chicken cleaner.

Am sorry your hubby was let go, but congratulations on the new job. I hope all goes well and he is able to start in a few weeks! Hey, I don't think I could Ax a chicken either, unless I hadn't eaten in a week or so! lol How are the little goats doing? They are cute! ...debbie
Hi Farm Girl, you seem to be taking them all in your strides, still remaining cheerful and optimistic - good for you. Wish your hubby best of luck
Woah! he was laid off but already hired on anothe job, PTL! Congrats. The tie he's away will be hard but will also only make your hearts grow fonder*wink*
We butchered 10 roosters yesterday( and some old, old hens, to old to mess with*sigh*) and have about that many hens and 7 turkeys to butcher in a couple of weeks. We're cutting our flock back to just 12 hens and two roos and five turkeys( two toms and two hens+ a baby from this summer)
Again congrats and sorry the other job were such jerks.
Blessings,
Kelle
My stupid keyboard is about shot, sorry for the typos*grimmice*
The problem with interviews is that the prospective employer calls your current one. I've seen more than one job loss because of that.
But I'm so happy for you guys and the new job. I hope it is not one that will keep him away for long, once training is over. It will be a challenge for you, but YOU CAN DO IT!

Congrats! This way you get to spend some quality time together before he heads off to training. There's always a silver lining, right? :)
So happy he got the job! Sounds like yall are going to be super busy the next few weeks! Can't wait to hear how things go!
Glad it worked out the way it did... that's always such a tricky situation.
Enjoy your next few weeks!! I'm envious. :)
Well at least you get a few weeks together and can get some things done. Thats is just so wrong though! 8-12 weeks a part is a long time. I agree WHO kills the spiders???LOL Me and kyle dont do well being separated..
I hope you all get everything done and settled though. Congrats on the new job!
It is funny how things work out! I hope this new job is one that will make you both happy!
Yeah I know all about having to live without a hubby around for a long time. The longest time parts lasted 5 months. Most of last year he was able to at least come home once every other month for two days. It was tough, but much harder on our kids. But we survived! And now he's on his way back home for good! Woot!
I'm glad hubby was able to find a new job before he was fired......when one door closes, a new one opens.

Congrats on the firing slash hiring. LOL. Things worked out and that is what matters, along with some great time at home to get those other things done. :)
Just had to stop in & for once comment. I am so bad about not leaving comments where I visit.
SFG, things happen for a reason. I hope he does well in his new job!!! Best of luck to the both of you!!! :-)
Thanks everyone for your nice comments. It really means a lot to me to know that you guys care. lol
Oh, and Granny? GA is a state in the southern part of the U.S.A. It is about a 14 hour drive from where I live. We don't fly. lol
Hi~
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog.
Congrats to hubby on the new job. Hope everything works out well for you all.
As far as staying home and quitting your job...I think that is a decision only you can make. Me personally....I could not work off the farm. I have plenty to keep me busy...from taking care of my family, homemaking and lots of cooking, helping in the field, farm bookwork, my candle business etc....
Come back soon for a visit. :)
