OMG!!

I did it. I just told some of my clients that I am going to be quiting work. That was a big step. It's a scary step. Hubby wants me to quit sooner than later. We keep going in the hole if I keep working where I'm working.  So I have to come up with some way to make some money. I would like to  make the money from home. I'm thinking something like selling produce or goat products(cheese, soap, fudge). Maybe do some flea marketing  But, I would like some input from you all.  Any ideas?

So until next time,

SFG, just askin.

Sorry, but don't have any suggestions for you. But congrats on taking the first step! I remember when I had to tell my clients & co-workers that I was leaving to move to the country. Very exciting time, but very nervous.
Also, check out my blog tomorrow (www.krazoacres.blogspot.com), it may not help you right away, but I'm going to be posting about some free advertising that you may want to take advantage of in the near future!

Maybe go and check out your local market..see whats for offer there. There might be a lack of homemade fudge stalls,or goat soap or goat cheese. What about breeding and selling goats?
Just find something you love doing and things will fall into place.
Good Luck :0)

congratulations! If its costing you to work then its a good step. Working from home is tough but I did that for quite a while when the kids were young and babysat...baked/decorated cakes and catered banquets. I did pretty well actually. Now, I like the job I have and it pays well in that I have free health care and retirement, but can't give it up! I do make/sell goat soap at the farmers market and do very well in the summer though! It pays for the feed and the hay and buys some more chickens once in a while..I love it!!

I don't know what the regulations are where you live but can you keep your clients and do their nails from home?
If so seems you have a built in at home business!

That is what the wife does. She helps by running the Mini Farm selling everything and anything we can grow or produce.
The kids are lucky they can move faster than we can because if they sit to long they might be sold too.

Congrats! If its costing more to work then I would say whatever you find to do from home will be better economic wise. Check your regulations and farmers markets out to see what they have or what they dont have.. Also get info on them as some will charge to be part of their group and some dont.
I am sure you will find something.

Do you have a local freebie paper in town? We have one that serves 3communities in our area and I use it all the time to figure out who's local for what I need. And their advertising rates are cheaper, too. You could market soap and other goodies there and let people know where to find you at the farmer's market. Goat milk cheese there may be some regs on in your area, just make sure what they are before you sell that.

I wish you the very best of luck with whatever you pursue, it's exciting to be starting this new chapter of your life! By the way, I work from home for a small insurance company doing administrative work and billing, perhaps something like that would be a fit for you? ~Vonnie, NH

if you already do nails can you do make-up as well? You could sell your services for "home spa days" or prom/wedding prep. Your gas going to and from your clients could be deducted from your taxes (98% sure of this) and although it wouldn't be super-steady work, it could be something additional to farm-related money making ventures.

That is a big step! I don`t have any suggestions as to what you can do from home to add income but I`m sure you`ll think of something!

I make goat milk soap and sell it at a local farmers market, but check yours out to see if there are too many soap sellers already as you might need to find a new spot.

Huge changes in the works around your place. Exciting!

As for finding out what to do to make some money from home.....discover what your passion is, where you feel most at home and most interested in doing day in and day out, then learn how to market it for the long term.

Good luck!

"All of the above"
Veggies and homemade goodies, soaps and crafts will be a good place to start and you'll see quickly what people are looking for and then you can adjust accordingly.

BTW, We found a goat( fresh with a kids), she's Alpine and Nigerian Dwarf cross, so she small, but supported twins( the lady we're getting her from is keeping the doe and we're getting the little buck) I can't wait to give her milk a try and to make cheese, yougurt and soap. We pick them up on Sunday. :o)

Blessings,
Kelle

I do the local farmers market selling baked goods, meat from the farm, handmade soap from our raw milk, soy candles and a few other odds an ends. I do rather well and would be glad to answer any questions you might have. Good luck! Rebekah
