Ridge Patrol

When I first moved out here on the ridge, me and Hubby had the whole place to ourselves. I mean, there was NOBODY within a mile each way. It was great. Then came the neighbors. They moved in about 3 years ago. They bought the land next to us. Still there is at least an acre in between us. Oh, and trees, so it's not like they are setting in our laps. But, when you are use to not having anyone around, it's an adjustment.  What if  I would want to sunbath naked?(A another story for another time.LOL)What if I'm in the only bathroom and Hubby has to "go outside?"  You laugh, but it's something that you have to adjust to. lol

Anyway, the neighbor is not a bad guy. He seems to really like his kids because he brought 4 out of 5 with him. When I say kids, I mean 30 some year old adults that had to have their own houses(trailers) that he bought. Now, there is noting wrong with trailers. But when you get a bunch of them in a small area, it begins to look like a trailer park. Once again, nothing wrong with that. You just have to remember, we were use to NOBODY being out here. Adjustments. At first I was really against them moving out here. I even tried to talk them out of it.lol. But now that they have been here for a few years, I guess it could be a lot worse.

Neighbor has been retired for a few years now. I think he is bored. He will take a trip around the ridge at least 3 times a day. Just to look at things. Sometimes he will ride his 4 wheeler, sometimes he drives his truck. Whatever he takes, he does it VERY slowly. lol.  Anyway, me and Hubby has got to where we call him the Ridge Patrol. He has called when we had a cow out. He has called when someone has dropped off a dog. He has even called when there was a pretty rainbow in the sky.  At first I thought of him as nosey. Now I think of him as safety. If anything happens, he will know about it. lol. It's nice to know that someone is looking out for you.

So until next time,

Small Farm Girl, Ridge Patrol Supporter.

Neighbors like that can be a comfort And a Pain!
We have had some adjusting at this place because we are right on the edge of town.

hehe...Ridge Patrol...as long as he doesn't start peeking in your windows to make sure you are "safe"! We have some patrolling neighbors too, but it makes me feel much better when we are out of town to know someone is always watching!

I know how you feel. I wasn't happy a couple of years ago when the farm houses to the east and west of us both became occupied -- they had been vacant for a long time prior to that.

I have been in that same situation. Used to looking out my windows and seeing only farm land--then one of the farmers sold an acre to his son and up went a house. Even though it was on the other side of the road and I didn't see it when I looked out three sides of my house==I still knew it was there and resented it. Oh well--the price of progress I guess.

We have neighbors on both sides as well as across the street. Now we consider each of them as blessing and we all keep watch on each others places and animals. Having said that we also don't always agree 100% of the time and there has been frustration due to some but nothing that can't be worked out and overlooked*wink* Just think most people live within feet of their neighbor and don't even know their names*sigh*, now that is sad :o(
The neighbor across the way from us, even herded our calf back intot he pasture one time, when we were gone and the little turd squeezed under a place in the wire fencing, a blessing of good neighbors :o). We in turn watch their place when they are traveling in their motorhome.
Blessings,
Kelle

Our neighbor is my SIL and that`s it! So when she goes on ridge patrol she`s usually coming down for a cuppa!
