It's getting back to working on the land like the old days. Being more self reliant, not commercialized. I think, lol!!!!

And that also means shoveling alot of crap too bahahahahaha!!!!

To me, homesteading means using your home & property in a practical way to provide for yourself and your family. And, yep, it means poopy boots, too!

I agree with the other comments.. Being more self reliant and not so dependent on the local grocery store to supply all our needs..
and stomping the pooey mud of my boots before coming inside... ;)

To me Homesteading is living in a rural setting, with land and working it for a living. Recently however, homestead act, is where someone over a certain age can get a reduced tax on their home after living there so long...or something like that...debbie

To me it means having a garden, raising chickens, having dairy goats and cooking from scratch with basic ingredients. I also feel more "homesteady" by supporting my local beef and pork producers. Oh, and hanging the laundry outside to dry always makes me feel good! :)

For me, it's having chickens and a big garden. But, it's also having close proximity to others who can supply locally what I can not, like raw milk, free range beef and pork and firewood. Just being able to remove myself from the hamster wheel of what most have become so dependent on and knowing I can care for my family all the time, not just in easy times, but also in an emergency. Those comforts and blessings are many for me, and I am thankful. What's your definition of homesteading? ~Vonnie
