Question of the Day

We are selling our hay for $12.00 a round bale. Now, it's not the BEST of hay, but it's very good hay for cattle and our goats.  So, the question of the day is........How much is hay where YOU live?

SFG, question asker.

I pay $30 for a 6X6 round bale of mix grass hay. He delivers and sets it on its side for me. So its easier to peel off.. Average price here is $25-50 depending on the kind of hay and how its wrapped too..

Currently we are paying $80 for large round bales of brome, (some are paying more) and $65 for prairie hay. Prices have doubled since spring. If we want it delivered we pay $50 charge plus $4 a mile.

I just bought prairie hay squares for $5 a piece (doubled in price since spring)

Of course we are in a massive drought.

A square bale of hay is $25+ here. Since quite a lot of it is dusty or yellow due to the long trip, lots of people buy cubes - $17-$18 a 50 lb bag.

Price WAS $50 for sorta-good mixed grass & some bermuda. That was two months ago before stocks ran low. I'm afraid to call my hay guy...not only because I'm afraid he's shipped everything to TX or AZ, but because I'm positive the price he gave us of $50 has skyrocketed since then.

Round bale, 800 - 1000 lbs.

We pay $4 / 60lb square bale of Timothy / Alfalfa mix delivered. Neighbors are in the 6x6 round bales of just Orchard Grass, and that is running them close to $25/roll.

Corn stalk rolls are $45. Better hay if $60 to $80 here in North Texas. Good luck finding any for sell. With the drought, nobody wants to sell any. Most are driving up North to get it.
I saw a guy rolling up some really bad grass/weeds the other day. I would not even call it hay but I guess it's better than a snow ball in the middle of winter.

Arizona - $13.50 per bale of 3 strand alfalfa. Grass 3 strand is $12. Roughly 100lbs bales.

I pay by the ton...it is going for between $80.00 (poor hay) to $160.00 per ton. My hubby says that it is running about $50.00 per bale for poorer hay; which means closer to $100...we are not in good shape this year.

It is at least $100 a bale down here in Texas!

Anywhere from $95 to $120 for a large round bale here in East Texas depending on the kind of hay. The drought has been terrible here... Well, that's how much it costs IF you can find any...

I know I'm a month late commenting but down in southeastern AZ we are currently paying about $15 per 100-pound bale of bermuda or alfalfa. :(

In Texas about 100 a round bale. Hay crop just wasn't this year due to the drought so boy did it drive up the prices!
