Window Licker

As you all probably know, this is Mud. We all love Mud. She has a.....well..... personality all her own. Around here we call it the "Window Licker" personaity.

Remember that kid, in school, that would lick the frost off the windows in the bus? Very cute, but just not "all there." That would discribe Mud's personality. We are going to put up electric fence inside our woven fence. Not for all of the other goats. No, they get that they are not suppose to stick their heads through the fence. They will get caught. Not Mud. She was too busy licking the windows to listen to the lesson on not sticking your head through the fence. I have to go out at LEAST once a day and get her head back in the fence. Once her head is back in, she just goes on and acts like nothing happend.

I just hope she doesn't try to lick the metal fence posts this winter.

So until next time,

Small Farm Girl, Mudd wrangler.

That is one of the main reasons we don't keep horned goats! :)
We made the mistake one year and let one of the freezer goats keep his horns instead of disubdding him. I swear I had to go out there three of four times a day to get his head out of the fence. I was more than happy to put him in the freezer. You'd think they would learn, but yep, some of them are just darned winder-lickers!

LOL @ windowlicker! Yep that would be why mine dont have horns either. I have had to have an adult dehorned too. When we managed a farm for a while I was CONSTANTLY pulling her goats out of fences and hay racks! About broke my fingers I dont know how many times because these goats were wild and didnt like me being close let alone trying to get their head out.
I hope the hot wire works for you!

Mud (adore the name btw) is not alone! I can't tell you how often we drive past a place and see some poor goat just standing there taking in the scenery while awaiting rescue! The ones that worry me most are the ones in Texas, standing there with their heads in the fence, and we havn't seen any sign of human habitation for miles and miles. Those are VAST goat ranches out there, and I always wonder if someone makes it in time.

Love this post. My husband likes to use the term "window licker" too. Gets a laugh from me every time.
