I did it!!!! I made butter! I'm soooo excited! It's hard to separate the cream from the milk in goat's milk without a separator. But, if you let the milk set for a while in the fridge, some cream rises to the top. And, with that cream, I made butter. A whole cup! LOL! But hey, it beats paying for it in the store. Next on the list, cheese and soap. Anyone have recipes for anything else that involves goat milk? hehehehe
So until next time,
Small Farm Girl, butter maker.
p.s. I would have had pictures, but I made homemade dinner rolls this evening. Well, we had to put butter on them. Now the butter is not that pretty. hehehehe

That's exciting. I love making goat's milk butter, soap and fudge!
A whole cup? LoL. Just kidding. It starts with a cup and before you know it youll have more butter than you know what to do with. Congrats.
Glad a farm girl made butter! LOL. Lovely animals you have on your farm. I love to visit farms - so much to enjoy, all away from the city.
We love making butter with our dairy cow's milk as well. Such a great feeling isn't it?! My kids get a kick out of making it also:) Congrats on your butter making experience!
That's a great achievement. Good for you.
I wish you can come by The Farm and give me a helping hand... :)

Great job!!
Way to go!!
YEah!! You need to make Chevre!! Its the easiest cheese to make. Bring milk in strain it add culture and rennet let it set over night. break up the curd and drain off the whey. I let mine drain through a cheese cloth for about 2 hours mix in a little salt then you have a wonderful creamy fresh cheese. You can add spices or honey to it. Use in Lasagna and casseroles.Very versatile. I have even made brownies with it. Substitute it for cream cheese. Good stuff!
Woowhoo!! That is awesome!!!! I want a goat! So I can make butter and cheese :)
Way to go AFG, I knew you could do it!
I've been skimming and saving cream to try making goat butter. We just have 1 nubian doe milker so it will be awhile before I have enough to make a cup.
I have to agree with Tonia, Chevre is pretty easy. I'm cooling milk today for some to culture tonight and hopefully be ready sometime tomorrow.
Guys thanks for the nice comments. Grandpa, I'll be right there. LOL!
Tonia, I'm going to try cheese too.
Melodie, I only have one Nubian also.
