I'm in Pain!

Pain I say! Okay, enough of the drama. I'm just a little sore. You know, the good sore. I planted some onions and potatoes, peas and lettuce too. And as all gardeners know, the first planting of the garden results in a nice agonizing pain that runs down the back of your legs.Planter's legs, is what I call this. lol. Anyway, I'll live.

We have been busy around here this weekend. Not only was it Easter, but the weather was wonderful. Had to get while the getting was good. We put up a pen for the chicks. They are in their gangly stage. Half feathers, half fluff. (I have some pictures to post later.)

Skeeter guarding the chicks was cute at first. Now it is down right annoying! You can't do anything with the chicks without her being underfoot. And if I hear her whine one more time.......AGH! We put her in the pen with them to see what she would do.( Don't get excited, Hubby was in there with her.) She kept trying to lick them. At first they would kind of stay away from her. Then, they didn't seem to care. In fact, they started to peck at her nubbins.(Just trying to keep it PG here) They thought that they were worms. lol!!!!!! She didn't know what to do. I laughed so hard. It got to where they were chasing Skeeter! LOL!Anyway, she still wants to get in with them. I don't think she will ever learn.

Since I haven't been on here since Easter, I want to wish all my bloggies HAPPY EASTER!!!!!

So until next time....

Well, that kind of soreness is the "good" pain. ?

I recommend to many of my clients a pain cream that you can get online, called Boswellin Cream by Nature's Herbs. I personally have had terrific results with it & many of my clients have as well. Because it is made with capsalcin (cayenne pepper) you have to put it on with something like a plastic sac or be sure you wash your hands IMMEDIATELY. It is much better than bengay or anything like that. It has a faint wintergreen odor.

Hope the soreness abates soon. Glad you had a good Easter.

But what a great feeling of satisfaction when those plants all get going strong and healthy.
I fertilized rows of potatoes after work yesterday, my back is sore today too. Glad there are others out there as crazy as me who think it is cool to grow your own food.

LOL still no planting here, but I feel your pain!! I brought home some old railroad ties and concrete parking bumpers to make raised beds with.....they sure got heavier than when I bought them for dads place when I was 22. Waterlogged...thats it...I'm not 23 years older or anything. Whew sore back this morning.

I can relate. We hand limed and fertilized our pastures over the weekend and OY! Did I feel it when I rolled out of the bed the following day!

You are so funny! Glad to hear you didn't waste the great weather!! I made a garden at my daughters house. About 3 x 18 feet. My body is still groaning from carrying the block, the soil and the mulch. But no Veggies, just 3 bushes, daffodils and 6 flowers. Your Skeeter must have a very strong mothering instinks! Bless her little heart...debbie

Planter's Legs! What a great way to describe that good pain of working in the yard! Sounds like watching Skeeter and the chicks is better than TV!

Nice to hear the weather is warming up there!
You know you've had a good day in the garden when you go to bed with an aching body, lol.

Our weather has been great but we live on a ridge. We catch any wind movement that happens by. WE have mowed the yard but that is it.

What kind of chickens do you raise? I tossing the idea around in my mind about raising chickens.

thanks for the laugh this morning. I can just picture those chicks chasing Scotter around! lol!!! It is finally starting to warm up here. I want to plant a few veggies, and more flowers! But now it's raining, but next week is to be warm again. I can't wait unitl 70's are here! Perfect planting weather. Thanks for the comment on my Easter blog. My granddaughter is so cute! And I just read your lat blog - I had a tack store that I just closed, brought all the inventory home to ebay and sell at shows, etc, and now I'm back to staying at home. I'm glad I did that! Brenda

Well, no planting here except onions. Lots of onions. It's currently hailing with 40 mph winds. Good day to catch up on canning those 40 lbs of frozen tomatoes from last year. Be well.

Still waiting on my Russett potato seeds and onion sets. Hoping they'll be coming this week.

Our garlic is up 3-4 tall as well as our walking onions( under the mulch) Our rhubarb is up and getting leaves and I dug into the mulch where the asparugus are and found several, so all looks good!

Bonus, where our salad garden was last season, we didn't get it tilled and we now have self sown lettuce, kale and mustard coming up, YEAH!!!

The hoop house is coming along slow, due to weather. Why is it that the nice days are when Mike has to work and it gets windy, rainy, snows or all of he above when it's Mike's days off*sigh*

Our chicks look like yours and are driving us nuts with the peeping and dust. One day they can go outside all day, then to cold or windy for several, then back outside for a day or two. I'm telling you they are stir crazy and if the weather doesn't straighten out we're likely to have chicken nugget soup*wink*, LOL!
