I Did It!

Well, I did it! My official last day at work was Friday. AAAAUUUUGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!  I have such mixed emotions about that. I am scared to death, for one. I have done that job for sooooo long. This is a big change for me! The auction that I'm helping get off the ground wont take up all of my time. So now what?  Yes, I know I will be working on the farm more. I know that I'll do a lot of the things that I've been putting off because of not having the time. I know that technically I have a LOT of things to keep me busy...... but will I do them? Will I get bored? Will I sit around the house all day eating bon bons and getting fat(er)? Will I start going out of my mind because I can't remember what day it is? Will I start nagging at the husband because HE's was at work and I had no one to talk too? Ok, ok,.....breath in, breath out......

As you can tell, I'm a little freaked out. And to make matters worse, it just turned frigid outside, so I can't do much outside.  Weeeeelllllll, I guess, I could do dishes. I guess I could wash clothes. I guess I could clean the litter box, drywall the house, make some bread, sweep and wash the floors, dust, knock down spider webs........ Hey, how did I have time to work? hehehehehe

So until next time,

Small Farm Girl, unemployed. (yea :o) )

I second the motion, you will probably feel like you are in a race come spring and summer, just take care and maybe, just for a few days, enjoy yourself... There is ALWAYS stuff to do...

You will do just fine. I have not worked in 3 years. Not by choice.

Congrats on your decision! And as others have mentioned and you have already guessed, once you're doing all the stuff around the homestead, you'll wonder how you ever found time to work at a "real" job!

as long as you want to do things there will be things that need doing...especially on a homestead. clean floors, hanging the wash out, ironing it up when it comes in, feeding and caring for the critters, making beds, spring and fall cleaning, etc...but, you will have time for many other things that you probably wished you had in your other life...like putting your feet up and reading a really good book, take up a hobby, spend more time with friends and family, taking a day just to have fun now and then like picnics or fishing...the world is yours, now you just gotta own it. i have been out of work for more than three years now..at first i missed it terribly..but if i were asked to return right at this moment i would turn the job down really quick...would not even have to think about it. :) here is a really good tip from my grandma: if you find yourself with nothing to do and little ambition..learn how to do something that you did not already know about. i have learned alot during those moments..history of our country, how to make beautiful quilts, how to cook other foods i never tasted before etc....enjoy life and what it brings to you!

I think you'll find lots to do. You'll just have to make yourself a mental schedule and stick to it so your busy most of the day. - leave a few day free. Try some new things like cooking or a new hobby you've wanted to try. I started quilting and I love that. There is lots to do on a farm - I doubt you'll get too bored!! ...debbie

Now that you don't "work" anymore, everybody in your family will expect you to take them to appointments and run their errands since you have (in their minds) all the time in the world and nothing to do. I promise that you will be very busy.

It is a scary thing to leave that "security" but as Carolyn Renee mentioned, you will soon wonder how you had TIME for a "real" job! LOL!!

You only worked 2 days out of the week. It won't be much of a change b/c you didn't really work before. lol

Ha ha Lil Sis, you know I worked more than that. It's gonna be a big change to not have the security of the extra money.

Well congrats on now staying home! You will have plenty to do. and I'm sure you will have days you will forget what day of the week it is, and have no one to talk to until your husband gets home! You'll be fine, just go talk to the animals;) It's so exciting for you. It does sound like you will be busy though!

But what would that leave for Day 2? Congratulations. I'm jealous. :)
