I had many great comments on my last post about quiting my job. I guess I didn't tell all of the details. I will be making money here at home too. It probably won't be as much as what I make right now, but it will be close.(So don't worry MDR.lol) At work righ now, I have to make $520 a month just to clear rent and gas. Plus, work is REALLY getting "not fun" anymore. (If you have a dozen women working in the same place, there usually is some drama.)
The main thing I worry about is if I stay home, will I be bored and eat bon bons all day and become as big as a mountain. And, will I miss the socialization? (Even though, sometimes I HATE it.)
Those are some of the things I'm worrying about.

It's good you know what you have to make a month. If it doesn't happen with work at home, at least you can go back to work!! ...debbie
I would think with your garden and all the animals you wouldn't have time to get bored! LOL!! You could also do some craft projects if that is your thing. It is also very important to have some kind of social outlet through a quilting/knitting/reading club, church, etc. It is a big decision that is for sure!
I can tell you from my experience, that the lack of socializing can be hard. I mean, I'm in a truck and around people all the time, but there arn't a lot of relationships, just passing bys. I have found my social outlet through blogging and facebook and it has been a blessing to me. I don't mind my hermit life, but it would be nice to be able to go out and have a girl chat once in a while, or get together with friends. But, even despite that aspect of it, given the option, I'd still choose this, and in your shoes, I'd totally opt to stay home and work!
I thought of something else, I find that having a schedule for housework keeps me on track. For instance, Monday is sheet changing day, Tuesday is bathroom cleaning day, etc. It keeps me organized and I don't leave things go until it is overwhelming. Also, don't forget to schedule some time just for you, it could be a long walk, a bubble bath, a trip to the library, just something that you do just for you! :)
Just read the last post... Let me just say that if I had the opportunity, I would ABSOLUTELY quit my job! With gardening and animals, I would definitely NOT run out of things to do. My to-do list seems endless, and with hubby working nearly 7 days a week, it takes us awhile to get out projects done.
Don't worry about the socializing aspect... Not working will leave you more time to go out and have a glass of wine with your girlfriends, or go shopping on the weekends rather than being too tired at the end of the workday to even THINK about getting dolled up for an evening of fun, let a lone thinking about what to make for dinner. AND just think about the gas money you will save!

I think you should grab the ring. As long as money is not a problem, take advantage of the time to work on things at the farm. As I said in my previous post (and ad nauseum, I am sure), work a little structure into your week - that will help with the "wilts", that feeling of blah you can get once in a while. As long as you're not three hours from civilization, you can always find company if you need it.
From someone who gave up work a few years ago, I have been changed in very positive ways by being at home. Those of us at home have the time and energy to make our homes as productive as can be. You don't have to earn dollars, saving dollars by growing food, cooking from scratch, making your own cleansers, soap and bread - all these things save you money. A saved dollar is better than an earned dollar because you don't pay tax on it.
I write about this often. I've never been bored, I'm still not crazy, but I have found happiness and a lot of satisfaction in my home and backyard. I'm sure you enjoy it.
OK I have been gone for 6 mths. I tried to move all my blogs to my lap top but not all made the transfer.
But didn't you give notice to leave your job last March or somewhere around there? I'm confused but thats nothing unusual for me.
Socialization is now at your convenience! You cna pick who you want to socialize with. Invite them out to have lunch. It make syour life so much easier to not have an everyday job. And you also may have some down time just to relax and find a schedule for at home. This is the time to be getting ready for winter and start planning next years garden and all that stuff!Enjoy!!
Ditto what Candy C. said about a schedule. I've been meaning to do something like that as I know it would help a LOT on my "sloth-like" days. You'll have it when you need a schedule, and heak, when things get out of hand, just ignore the schedule (just don't KEEP ignoring it!).
Stay home, enjoy your land. It sounds like a struggle to make the rent and gas alone, and then having to deal with the drama of the "office" probably doesn't make it worth it.
If you get bored, or need to socialize, it is really easy to join a homemakers group ( check your county extension office ) or any other organization of your choosing. It will help you get out and be around people you choose, and whose company you can enjoy.
If you can afford to, do it. Winter might be tough to sit through, but with Spring and Summer and farm chores and garden planning you will see the time fly by!
Well I went from being a full time employee at the office to working at home years ago. I figured why not. They are paying me the same amount (which has gone up with yearly raises) and I get full benefits. Being home can be lonely but I get together with a few friends for lunch every month and I get a lot of crafts done and I'm not tired from all the commute to and from. We saved a lot of money actually with the gas and upkeep of the car. The internet is wonderful for keeping you sane and my hubby and I are even closer than before. We actually spend quality time together. Now if we can just get a farm and he can quit his job...;)
