Sad Day

It's a sad day here in South Shore Ky. This picture was what happened this morning. The local feed store caught on fire. Five fire departments were called for this huge fire. Good thing no one was hurt.  This building use to be a landmark in our little community. It was built back in the 1920's. It has been a furniture store, a restaurant, and a craft store. But, it was known the most, as the farm store. It was a total lost. It just looks weird now. I'm so use to seeing the big building on the corner. It is there no more.

So until next time,

Small Farm Girl, sad.

How terrible! Feed stores are often the hub of a small community...how very sad.

Oh no! That's a awful loss for your community. Old buildings like that are often comfortable daily meeting places for rural folk.

How awful! I hate it when an old landmark is either destroyed or burned by fire. Such a shame. I hope the feed store will make a come back in another building. So glad no one wasn't hurt. ...debbie

Something about feed stores, when they burn, they burn hot and fast. What a loss for your community.

So sorry that the landmark is gone. But so glad no one was hurt. There is a reason and purpose for everything...just takes time to see.

Beautiful snow pic. yes always a sad day when you see things like that building burn. When dh was growing up the court house in the neighboring town burned down 3 times.

That is a sad thing to see. The feed store is where you find the most down to earth people, the place I feel most comfortable, I know the loss of the old building and the memories it held will be missed .
