Hubby went out last night to pick up some chicks. Okay, okay,it's not what your thinking. These kind of chicks. (What kind of guy do you think he is anyway. LOL)
Skeeter was really interested in the little balls of fluff. So interested in fact, that when we left the house so Hubby could run me to work, she jumped into their new home to see them. When she jumped in, she knocked the heating lamp down on 6 of them. Yep, you guessed it, dead chicks. These are the ones we have left. The wet spots are where Skeeter tip the water over.
On the bright side, she didn't do anything to the ones that weren't under the heat lamp. I think she was kinda scared. She couldn't get out of THEIR home. She was stuck. LOL.When Hubby got home, she was caught red handed. Hubby was not happy. He put Skeeter in her cage and left her there all day long. She knew that she done something bad. She wouldn't even look at him. lol. As of right now, the chicks are do fine.
Today me and Hubby put our last double window in our new house. I haven't downloaded the pictures yet. They will be coming soon. It made such a difference in how much light got into the house. We are really getting excited! We are getting closer to getting into our house! YEA!!!! We will be looking for a bathtub sometime this week so we can finish the bathroom. That is an important room. *wink* Once it is done and we have water to it, we actually could move into the basement. Double YEA!!!
We also got the garden plowed under. I was hoping to get some potatoes and peas in the ground, but we didn't have time to till the garden. It's suppose to rain tonight. So maybe in a few days, if it dries out fast enough, we can put some veggies in the ground. We will see.
So until next time,
Small Farm Girl, farmer, construction worker, and gardener.

I look forward to the day when we can get our new house done and move in. So, I can imagine your excitement as you work on yours.
What an exciting week!
So sad about the chicks. Your set up is like ours, a tub. We had to put ours in a closed bedroom to keep the cat away, then when they were big enough to hop to the top, we laid chicken wire over it.
I'd like to get just a couple more this year as the hens slow in production. Next year would be good.
I'd love to photos of your house progress! That is such wonderful news!

Awwww... they are cute. Barred Rocks chicks right? We ordered 25 plymouth white rocks for butchering and our hens will raise some as they always do. We're thinking of cutting back our flock again, feed costs are getting higher and nobody wants to pay the rising cost on the eggs.*sigh* Congrats and enjoy your peepers*wink*
SFG, you are wearing many hats these days! lol
Am excited about your house! Glad the windows are in!! The chicks are really cute. Shame on poor ole skeeter, getting caught red handed! lol She really did a job on them. Don't have that many left do ya? Are they for meat or eggs? I don't know a thing about chickens, except some are better than other for eggs or meat...debbie
